I think garlic bread is one of my favorite foods. I LOVE my bread! Garlic bread or just bread and butter is often a staple with pasta. These Italian Seasoned Pita Chips are a nice change and easy to make. Plus, you gotta love some crunch!
I am giving you the basics here with using Italian seasoning and a little garlic salt, but you could play with the seasonings with whatever inspires you to go along with other meals. Or just use olive oil, no seasoning, and use them to scoop up some great hummus.
2 tbsp of olive oil or oil from jar of sun-dried tomatoes
1 tsp Italian Seasoning
1/2 tsp garlic salt
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Cut pita bread in half, open up the pocket and slit into two.
Place the rough side down (interior of pita pocket) and brush the smooth side with oil. (This would be the outside of the pita pocket.) Flip over and repeat.
Sprinkle the rough side with Italian seasoning and garlic salt.
Cut each semi circle into 4 triangles.
Layout triangles, seasoned side up, on a baking sheet.
Bake for 9-10 minutes. Watch carefully as they will go from crisp to burnt quickly.
Let cool for a few minutes then wrap in a clean napkin or towel, place in bowl and serve.
